A History of Service – Locally Owned & Operated Since 1970

In the late 1960s, a group of local businessmen and community leaders found there to be a need for a locally owned, community minded financial institution to better serve the banking needs of Barbour County. By June 2, 1970, Barbour County Bank opened for business. The bank quickly established itself as a community leader and provider of safe and secure banking products. In 1986, the success of the bank led the leaders to establish a holding company, Appalachian Financial Corporation, which acquired ownership of Barbour County Bank.

Our Expansion to Better Serve West Virginia

As further demand grew for a bank that was not only locally owned but also well-capitalized, the decision was made to expand into Harrison County. Now that the bank was able to offer the community loans and deposit products that were very competitive and delivered with exceptional customer service, further expansion followed and the bank’s name was changed to BCBank.
